Anyone willing to set up a facebook with a Petition form attached ... the objective is to put pressure on the govt to demonstrate their commitment to reduce fuel consumption, pollution, traffic congestion and cars taking up space on roads and parking to allow anyone with a Scooter or Motorcycle 200cc or less not to have to pay registration (Same as bicycles) only third party insurance.
Also ALL motorcycles/scooters should not have to pay for parking or tolls ... again this will show the governments demonstrated commitment to reduce fuel consumption, pollution, traffic congestion and cars taking up space on roads and parking.
This will not only be better for the environment but make more people motorcycle aware.
It is my belief that the Greens Senators should either use Hybrid motor vehicles or motorcycles to show they are committed. Greens need to walk the talk. _________________ Rocketaus, PJ, Jano, Paul

Sounds likea great idea - surely you'll get a taker.
As a daily commuter - a few less idiots on the road would be good. _________________ Cheersh,

Paul, sorry to be negative but IMHO it would be a total waste of time and effort. We only have an unbelievably small voice and those in power aren't interested.
Now if you got a petition going amongst fellow motorcyclists to ban all motorcycles over 200cc they'd act.
Over the last 40+ years I've watched protest groups full of good people come and go, the only thing that changes is the people burn out and the establishment remains. |

But it is worth a try ... I was thinking of circulating it at the universities, dealers, bike clubs etc
It is hard to sit back and let this Govt screw us over every day.
Queensland they are putting registration up.
As bikers, we need to put it to our associations (MRA etc) including NRMA etc
Media at the moment are looking for stories to stick it up the Govt ... no time better than now.
Though I do hear what you are saying. _________________ Rocketaus, PJ, Jano, Paul

The motor cycle council may be a source of assistance ?

I attended the Motorcycle Meeting on Monday.
The report from the independant auditers into CTP has now been placed on the road ministers desk.
(This report was a direct result of the CTP protest ride last august!)
Anyway - the full details are not out yet - but I understand that bikes have been overcharged 70%!
The roads minister will be taking action!
More when I get it!

I always try to look at the glass as half full but when it comes to these ministerial things I can only see it as half empty.
If you can table a report showing that we are overcharged 70% and get a 70% reduction I'll become religious and start a movement to get your sainthood on the way. |

It will be interesting to see what the minister thinks and decides to do about the over charging. _________________ Journey in Life, is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting '..holy sh*t ....what a ride!'

Have you ever tried to take a bone away from a hungry dog?
When a pig has it's nose in the swill it's hard to get it to stop eating.
How many analogies required to get the point over?
I can just see it now the minister saying, "If I take a 5% pay cut we can pass it back to those nice motorcycling chaps". |

I actually attended the rally held in sydney. Here is link http://musicswap.s4.bizhat.com/viewtopic.php?t=232
Tho it was a great turn-out, in the end from all who said they would attend from here. Only me and Stan showed up!
Also attended the CTP PROTEST RIDE EASTERN CREEK OCTOBER 30
Totally by accident as was not advertised anywhere I looked?
But tho has been a year now. I do believe something is being done, and changes will happen
Not sure personally if facebook the way to go tho. Not all like or use it. _________________ www.ratscafe.org

Facebook is a great tool but it will need to link to a Petition Website so everyone can vote ... but Facebook is great for promotion of the Petition.
Example this Petition I found out about on Facebook http://www.banwirebarriers.org/index.php _________________ Rocketaus, PJ, Jano, Paul

Just be aware that in this instance the pig eating from the trough is not the government but the insurance companies.
I am also hearing rumors of a class action for motorcyclists to join - to get their overpaid CTP premiums refunded!
