Just be aware that in this instance the pig eating from the trough is not the government but the insurance companies.

I am also hearing rumors of a class action for motorcyclists to join - to get their overpaid CTP premiums refunded!

I'm all for getting a refund but we shop around for CTP insurance and purchase from the company that offers the best deal for our circumstances. Therefore I'd say the only way to get money back is if it could be proven that the insurance companies were involved in an illegal activity involving price fixing. The last case that was successful in that area was the cardboard and packaging scam and it took years and millions of $$ to get a resolution. Who is going to fund a legal battle against the multinational insurance companies?

Facebook is a great tool but it will need to link to a Petition Website so everyone can vote ... but Facebook is great for promotion of the Petition.
Example this Petition I found out about on Facebook http://www.banwirebarriers.org/index.php

To do it like that link. You will need to purchase the website address of name you want Paul and build website.

Or could purchase website of any name, and add page of name you want

Alternatively. You could make a similar page in "Public notices" section here ( I can help adding pictures etc if you provide subject name and start post. And subject would be locked to make just viewing page) And sure Benny could put together a top of page lay-out graphic or could set up a page on musicswapshoppe with similar lay-out and page named what you would want it. No purchase cost at all with last 2 options.

Either way you go, u could then send emails and notification's thru facebook etc providing link.

At least the people in NSW can shop around for a green slip to hopefully get a better price. In the ACT we have no choice there is only 1 insurer. I once did a comparion with my car and bike and I would have been over $200 a year better off for both if I had lived in NSW, I worked it out on country NSW.

(This report was a direct result of the CTP protest ride last august!)

At the rally in Sydney. Labour at that time were in power. So of course the opposition transport minister spoke and "vowed" to overturn this if in power.

Well there in power?

I forgot about that. I do remember thinking "Yer Right"
Words are cheap in politics, and strange that now a report has to be provided to them, when they could talk for over 20 minutes without one lol

I wonder if anyone have actually thought of posting a transcript of his speech to him?

I really do think things can be done tho. And feel that councils, motorbike bodies need to get more information out and be more unified. As I said, I did attend both rally's, but second one was a pure accident and I saw it advertised nowhere? They had my email address when i signed petition? Why was it not used? Sure more would have attended 2nd one and pressure could have been maintained by more follow ups.

Back peddling a little on some of my previous negative comments on this subject.
When you look about and start talking to people it's amazing how many motorcycles are actually in peoples garages. If enough people banded together they would be afraid of our political power but organizing motorcyclists is like herding cats.

I agree with otherwise ... if Motorcyclist got together they could make a difference.

My plan is to get a domain name and setup a petition ... market through Facebook etc

I was a little worried about the negativity at first and was planning to talk to Stan and as many other people at Port to see what their feelings were and if they felt it was worth giving it ago.

Laughing I think the chatter on this forum has been worthwhile, but would like to see more riders views and ideas.

I like how http://www.banwirebarriers.org/index.php

Informative and professionally designed, very easy to use ... you know what the aim is.

What do people think would be a good name for a domain name ...

eg www.FairGo4Riders.org www.DoesThisGovtCare.org ????

Hey rocketaus, don't forget you will need somewhere to host the site along with that domain name. I'm happy to offer advice if needed.

Back to the $$$
Got my CTP renewal today, first one on this bike. The selling dealer must have a deal with Swann Insurance, renewal with them is $405.11
Did the search on the NSW RTA page and will be going with NRMA for $320.96
That's a difference of $84.42 or two slabs of VB.

Got a quote from Monaland Ulysses Insurance people, $265.00
On the face of it that's good but I'd have to add $30.00 joining fee and $90.00 membership, that makes NRMA the best at only $320.96.
If you are already a Ulysses member they are probably the way to go but Ulysses membership is like sleeping tablets to me.
