Quote: | Also I may try and score a free better bikes number plate holder from them. Your rocket will already have one, as did my Bon when I bought it from them.
And if I score one can be sure i will post it here |
Well went with Cobba to pick up his bike, and got the number plate holder, no questions asked (gave me two actually)
Very pleasant staff and some great bikes for sale. Tho one of there nice bikes has now been sold

What can I say?
I've still got a shit eatin grin on my face and keep walkin back out to the shed to look, think and tinker, but this post was about the dealer, not me.
Better Bikes.
Well, I'd have to recommend them.
Nothing is perfect in this world and it wasn't till late today when I had time to sit and look from drifferent angles that I found any faults, but they were only cosmetics.
The bike was as described in there listing and so far seems to be all mechanically sound.
I'm still hoping to speak with the previous owner cos I reckon it's got a little more than Jardines and K&N filters. It really cracks.
Photos to follow when I get off it for more than 1/2 an hour. |

May need to rethink my previous comments.
Am having a bit of an issue with Better bikes at the moment.
When I got it home off the trailer I noticed that the right front fork seal was leaking.
Gave it a full clean up and kept an eye on it but still happening. Not bad, but still happening.
Also noticed one point on the rear tyre was a bit sus and had concerns it might become a problem for a RWC.
I took it in for a roadworthy on Monday and sure enough, they knocked me on the rear tyre (as well as too loud).
Looked good in the shop but I didn't really look that closely (Phil from Better Bikes. If you're reading this then you will know this is true).
Had a quick walk around it, checked the VIN and Engine numbers matched the paperwork, handed over the cash, rode it for a few Ks and loaded it onto the trailer where it stayed for the trip home.
In and out the door in about half an hour.
At inspection it turns out that the rear tyre has worn thru to the limit indicators on the right hand side half way round from centre.
Went to 2 other Inspection Stations and got the same story as the first. Won't pass (although I found 1 that will accept the pipes).
Better Bikes are saying that it wasn't like that when it left and as I had ridden the bike home it must of happened along the way as there mechanic had passed it as OK.
I told them that it was trailered home, not ridden and that maybe the mechanic missed it.
So, costs.
New tyre. $440 plus fitting ($40 if I take the bike. $20 if I take the wheel).
Fork seals plus fitting? $150, 200??? Who knows with Triumph Australia.
Minimum of $600 even if I do the fork and wheel removal myself and drop the parts into the bike shop.
Have sent them (Better bikes) photos of the tyre highlighting the affected area, the forks with the weeping oil on them, and odometer reading showing at the time (Sunday afternoon. Day before RWC inspection) that it had only an extra 170Ks on it as evidence, but have been waiting for a reply from them since yesterday.
Appearantly they are too busy selling bikes to look aftr their paid up customers as he was bragging he had sold another 7 bikes since I was there.
Already know what the answer will be and my next step when I get it. Consumer affairs.
I'm prepared to accept a 50/50 deal if they'll come at it, but I doubt they will.
Let's see what happens. |

Well we have come to an amicable agreement and they have offered to go halves in the cost of another tyre and fork seal repairs.
I am glad that things have worked out for the better as the cost of repairs for me was a fair wack of the money I had put aside for the rego transfer.
Doesn't quite hurt so much now..
Thanks to Phil and Roland at Better bikes for working with me on this.
Alls well that ends well they say.
Cheers. |

Cobba,
Glad the deal not leaving a bitter taste.
Would have been a sad end to what was a great 'journey'.
Must admit I did not notice the worn rear!!
The forks were obviously clean n the shop floor,
the journey home enough to have pumped out some oil.
Call it a 'speed hump' in the long road that will be your time together.
Still a great deal overall. _________________ Cheersh,

Thanks guys.
More than happy with the end result.
50/50 split is a fair deal for both I think.
I may have been a bit stand offish with them in negotiations but having had a bad deal with another mob in the past I wasn't prepared to take it as "All ok when it left here so not our fault" again.
No, they played fair and all good in the end.
Can't wait to get this roadworthy and registration sorted out and have it in my name. |
