This is a quick and dirty poll to determine if we get membership to mccnsw.

In that Prickle from the old ratbags has written to MCCNSW requesting ratbags link from MCC page (which actually pointed to triumphrat.net) be removed, at this stage Davo and myself are no longer delegates to the MCC NSW.

If you wish either of us - or any other delegates to go to the meeting (and remain on delegates email list), ratscafe would have to request membership.

Process doesn't hurt much and is quite simple.

1. Decide if you want to join - I suggest a poll.

2. If Poll successful draft letter to MCC listing your delegates, poll results, brief overview of ratscafe etc - best to have three delegates so you get good coverage.

Would be happy enough to request membership under Rats downunder www.ratsdownunder.org as opposed to Rats cafe

We have that name also, and would avoid ratsCafe being seen as a club with membership.

whats others views ? and can I leave it up to you to compose letter of request ?

If this does happen it may be easier if I make you Mod of this section rather than Nixie.

I hate meetings and avoid like the plague, but more than happy to provide my support for protests etc. And there is a good number of regular bike enthusiasts here to also support such things.

Most times I find out at the last minute or after the event!

MCC were succesfull in reducing greenslip costs, which must have surprised a few I reckon
.

Added my vote

How long is poll running for ?

Just a thought,
Can we put a "dont care, or Undecided" as a third option on the poll.
At least then those who really dont have an opinion one way or the other can at least acknowledge that we have read the post and voted.
I find that most of these Polls do just that Polarise, where sometimes you may not have an opinion one way or the other.

I really dont know enough about whats involved or the pro's and con's of membership to voice an opinion, but if I could post and undecided or similar you would know I had at least thought about it.

Put me down for

* Undecided

This is in no way a critisism of stang, churchy or any one who may resemble these characters either live or dead and is not necessarily the opinion of this site, or anyone who posts on, or visits this site.

And yes my medication does have Paracetamol and pseudoephedrine in it. Have a good day people this flue is driving me up the wall. (And stopping me getting out on the new (to me) harley.)

I'd vote yes, I recieved a lot of help from the then chairman when the regs regarding db plating for aftermarket exhausts came in (2004 I think?)
Seemed like a bunch of people interested in doing things. Not just taking minutes and wasting hours like a few groups out there

Thanks David for adding the third (not sure) option.

In light of recent events - changing my vote to yes.
This as thinking the good folk that control our roads need all the
kicks up the arse, sorry, encouragement to make our roads safer.

Couldn't vote on the poll yesterday but I would put down a Yes.

I used to assist the previous head of the MCC for quite some time, especially on the CTP issue. After three years we got a $250,000 grant towards motorycle safety awareness and a seat at the table discussing CTP/LTCS issues relating to motorcyclists. A couple of years later there has been a decrease in CTP pricing that was a result of all the years of pushing, not one persons work at the final hurdle...

It really amazed me how much goes on behind the scenes to try and get one small change through. It takes years and years of submissions and lobbying and meetings to achieve any small victory. Try to remember this when you might be getting frustrated or thinking that nothing happens and that no one has done anything for you lately.

The MCC is not without its issues, like any volunteer organisation as you can imagine. On the whole though they are all dedicated long term motorcyclists and have a keen interest in looking out for all riders.

It does no harm to be involved and contribute to making motorcycling safer and more enjoyable for all. Receiving information through the MCC network can also help keep you better informed of what is going on...

Thanks for that Cam.

The other thing that caused huge time issues was the practice of the previous govt to change roads ministers every few months. Every time this happened everything that had happened with previous minister was lost and the MCC had to start again at the beginning.

Yep, I put together an amusing timeline of that exact issue when it was happening showing who and how long, it was nuts! Rolling Eyes

Ok people, for those who voted many thanks.

The final result is:

Yes - 72%
No - 11%
Undecided - 17%

Accordingly, I will prepare the application etc for MCC.

I am willing to be a delegate along with Benny. Are there any other people who wish to be a delegate?
