I know a few of you guys have used them, and most likely all went well but I have a story to tell about my experience with Pinwall Cycle Parts INC.
Bought a few items off them thru Ebay recently to fix my damaged RS. Headlight, rear brake lever, Radiator and cap.
The cap is sold separately from the radiator thru these guys. Must be another way of making an extra few dollars.
Package arrives here to me last Monday (Aug 1). Open it up, check things over and immediatly find that the radiator is damaged in a way not discribed in the listing.
The filler neck where the cap fits to is bent over on an angle, out of round and has a split at the base where it goes onto the tank.
Looks very much like it has been dropped.
I send them a message stating my case and offer to post photos if required.
2 days later I send another message asking what was happening and expressing the urgency for me to get this sorted as it was the only thing left to get the bike on the road again.
Day 4 I get a reply with an Email address to send photos to.
Day 6 I sent another message asking where we were at. Still nothing. Looked like they weren't wanting to talk about it so I then opened a dispute thru Ebay/Paypal.
On Tuesday I got an Email from Paypal saying that it was covered under their buyers protection thingy and I had to send the goods back to the supplier for them to inspect and then I would get a refund.
Return postage was to be at my expense and I had to supply a tracking number within 10 days or claim cancelled.
Cutting it short.
$100US radiator ($95AU) is going to cost me $80 to send. All I end up getting back is $15.
Claim cancelled. Dirty letter sent.
I might as well try and fix it myself and sell it on again.
In the end I repaired my original one and re-used it. Not perfect, but came up alright with a coat of paint.
Oh, and the cap that they sent, doesn't fit the radiator, but that was only $3. |

Cobba, don't be such an arse, it's your fault for living in Australia.
Actually I've read similar stories about a UK alloy tank manufacturer who unloads his mistakes to Australia knowing the cost of returning isn't worth the effort. |

Yeah. I probably put it in the wrong section. Should have been in "Bitching"
Sad to hear that the fella in UK was using us as a dumping ground. That sux.
To be honest, I don't think Pinwall set out to screw me over, but the end result was the same.
The bit that "bites" is that I have to pay postage to have it sent to me as well as get it back to them.
If they had to pay for postage for their own fuckups then I reckon things would be a bit more balanced.
IMHO I reckon they should cover all costs, not just the purchase price. |

Ebay is actually set up that the buyer can never lose if that way inclined.
This record was advertised by Steve and Chris on Ebay and sold for $300 bucks (start price $5.00). They sent well wrapped to buyer in France as registered post.
Got an email stating record was broken in transit. They asked me what to do and i said ask for a picture of broken record and say money will be refunded. ( No pic arrived but dispute was started.) A registered parcel arrived couple of weeks later at Steve and Chrises which when opened contained nothing !
Ebay refunded money to buyer. So they lost record, & cost of posting.
Just saying.
Pinwalls are normally good tho. _________________ www.ratscafe.org
