29 March 2012

A motorcyclist has died after trying to get past two semi-trailers by riding between them.

Investigators believe two semi-trailer trucks were travelling west on Geelong Road, Brooklyn about 7pm (AEDT) on Wednesday night when the motorcycle attempted to get past them by riding in between them.

It's believed the motorcyclist, aged in his 20s, lost control of his machine and collided with one of the trucks, near McDonalds Road.

Both truck drivers failed to stop at the scene, but have since come forward to police.

Major Collision Investigation detectives are appealing for witnesses.

Victoria's road toll stands at 77, nine more than for the same period last year.

Goes to show that you will always have stupid drivers and riders out there regardless of any risk, penalties or fines. Fortunately there was no pillion involved...

Clearly all of the enforcement cameras are working well then in regards the overall toll reduction? Rolling Eyes

In that case i feel for the truck drivers
Something like that could severally affect the driver when it had absolutely nothing to do with them

Glad you caught my point! Smile They like using reductions in the road toll as a justification for more enforcement tools but usually it does not correlate. Some other countries have realised it doesn't actually work and started removing them...

and I am with you on that point Boof, poor truck drivers...
