[From MCC]

Transport for NSW announced at the Vehicle Standards Working Group meeting on Thursday the 19th July that they will drop the proposal requiring Engineering Certification of aftermarket motorcycle exhausts.
Had this gone through it would have led to another rash of bookings similar to the "Exhaust Sticker" issue defeated by the MCC several years ago and would have required all riders to have their exhausts checked for suitability. The change in attitude follows on from rather exhaustive negotiations between the MCCofNSW and Transport representatives in the lead up to the meeting last Thursday.

I thought there was already certification in place anyway re decibels ?

Am assuming this would have been similar to what already appears to be in place in the UK. As I note that Triumph aftermarket mufflers show "Not for road use" on them, which I assunme means riders in UK cannot use them on the roads..

So does that mean that this does not apply to Australia and any exhaust can be fitted?

From my understanding you still need to meet a limit re noise for your exhaust.

What this decision means is that you don't have to go and get a separate engineering certificate to certify that it complies and display the sticker on your bike. Is that about right Stan?
