Attended AGM last night.

New Chairman CJ Burns (He was the guy who got the Good Gear guide to Port for us).

Other electees will be on the MCCNSW site shortly.

Advanced stop boxes. About 45 nominations received. These will be whittled down to 5 and presented to the Minister. Note that these *may* allow a defacto legal lane splitting using the 30/10 rule - i.e other vehicle must be moving less than 30 and the differential between your speed and his must be less than 10.

August newsletter is out - but not yet on the MCCNSW site.

Highlights.

1. Merger between MCCNSW and Motorcycling NSW is now not going ahead.
2. CTP - if your rego becomes due advise is to only renew for 6 months because some changes (price drops) are anticipated very soon.
3. Motorcycle awareness week. Commences 20th October in Wynyard. Minister will be present (Duncan Gay). Breakfast Torque will be on - details TBA.
4. MCCNSW have lodged submission to the parliamentry commitee into MAA and LTCS. Expected to be called as witnesses.
5. The biggy! Is is expected that at some point in the near future you will be able to puchase a helmet that conforms to standards other than AU - e.g US DOT, Japan and UK. What it means is that you can purchase a $500 Shoi helmet from overseas instead of paying $800 here in OZ!

If anyone wants the newsletter *NOW* I can send it to them.

Has it been discussed re problems it could cause regarding slow bikes and cycles who decide to use it, as this could mean cars are held up?

Thanks for update Stan
When do you meet next?

1. Meetings are normally the 1st Monday of the Month - schedule is posted at mcc web site.

2. QUite frankly (personal opinion) pushbikes are a real problem. There is very little enforement capability available and a large number of them will obey the road rules - when it suits them.
So yes they could hold up traffic - but they may damage themselves (their reputation etc) more if they start causing more issues.

3. I have it on pretty good authority that an announcement will be made in October of substantial reductions in CTP cost. If like me your rego falls between now and 1-Jan-2012, recomendation is to get 6 month rego - long term you will save money!

Any reason why they decided not to amalgamate?

Quote:
Notwithstanding, Mr Rob Colligan, Chairman of the MCC of NSW at the
time, decided to take on a permanent position with Motorcycling NSW as
their Road and Recreational Riding Manager

Seems both pretty closely tied

Have to give them credit for motorcycle week Rat

But I also find them hard to squeeze info from as well.
