Service etc on the Bonnie, thorough most definately - even to the point of using a ruler to measure exact distances on chain adjusters and telling me the shims are on the limit but don't need replacing just yet.
Maybe it's me and old school (like he didn't even say one single norty word) - he was too clinical for my liking, he did do a good job but when the Bonnie needs its next service I think I'll be trying TeamMoto, I want somewhere where I can walk in, take the piss outta someone have them take the piss outta me and everyones happy _________________ Carl

Did you try taking the piss out of him
He might of twigged that you'r a religeous man and didin't want to offend you.
I'm a bit anal when it comes to stuff like that too. I'll back the tensioners off and equalise them then bring them back up in sequence.
I'd concider that a good thing in a mechanic. Usually you don't get to see what's being done when you take it into a bike shop.
I've got a sign on the door of my workshop.
"Hourly rate $50, $70 if you watch and $100 if you help". Pain in the arse having a customer quizzing you about what you're doing when you're working.
When you say that the shims are on the limit, does that mean that they need to be redone soon, or that they are out to the maximum size already and can't go any further?? |

I'm pretty sure the kickarse shirt I had on "LOVE IT BENNY" may have given him an idea I was a club member and as for him twigging I am a religious man may well have shot straight out the window when I slipped off me steps and let a few choice words go

They need to be redone soon but he said they still had miles in em still. It still rattles though, I'm starting to think it's me brain and not the bike _________________ Carl

Every Triumph I've ever had has had me thinking there was something rattly in the top end.
Except for the Rocket that is. It wheers and pops and clunks, but haven't heard any rattles.
So, sounds like a pretty indepth service done in it if he had the rocker cover off it to check the shims.
New oil and filter as well?? Checked the fluids, adjusted the clutch??
What did he charge you for that if you don't mind me asking.
Some of the guys here would be able to compare that to a bike shop service of the same value and see if it was really value or not. |

Checked shims, new oil and filter, new plugs, checked the battery and carbs, the chain as previously noted, correct tyre air pressure, set the idle and basic electrics, clutch and fluids are fine - $312 all up _________________ Carl

Never had a Bon service done but seems like a good price to me.
My dealer charged me $550 for the last service I got done and didn't touch the shims.
Oil, oil filter, air filter, rear pads, grease the couple of points that need it.
The tosser throw out the servicable K&N element cos he thought it was just a stocky.
Wish I could have been there watching over his shoulder |

Price and works carried out - excellent so if you're considering getting your bike serviced yeh go for it I'm pretty sure the work he does also doesn't void your warranty just double check with him prior to.
I'm just used to going in to a bike shop and when you get the 'invite' in to the aladins cave that is the workshop ya know ya made it in to the shops inner circle - like I said I'm just old school and to be honest would prefer to do stuff meself *shrug* - prob wouldn't make it in to the workshops nowadays coz of OH&S the wankers _________________ Carl

Mate owns the Harley dealership here in Albury. have known him for about 15 years.
When I got the new tyre fitted to the Rocket last month I wanted to go and check out something on the bike while it was on the lift.
Wouldn't let me past the door. "Sorry Cobba, can't go back there. OH&S".
The life and times of Public liability and litigation have f#cked our society I reckon. |
