Buyers: When requesting bike parts/accessories, try and be as specific as possible in regards to make, model, condition etc.
Subject would for this demo ad would be: 'Triumph Hinckley Ironing Board Seat.
The following is an example ad e.g. Triumph 'Ironing Board' Seat Wanted - prefer grey with white piping but will take black with white piping - may even consider plain black providing it's cheaper than the other two!
Reading the above ad tells me that you have three preferences ONLY so if I have a stock ribbed seat, logically I won't bother you with mindless messages and offers
If it's a bike your after, unless you don't care about make, model, condition etc you could for example write in the Subject box - 'Triumph Cub Wanted - may consider Zundapp'
If you are after a specific Bike/Part - be just that SPECIFIC e.g 'Triumph Cub wanted, all conditions considered even basket cases - must be minimum 95% complete'

Would also be good if users indicated Its "sold" if thats the case?
Then, you as Moderator Carl could revise title to show that is the case, or maybe even just delete post? _________________ www.ratscafe.org

Personally if something is sold then I think it should be deleted after 30 days - that way anyone who may have been considering making a deal would know that one has been done _________________ Carl

Why delete???
I'd only do that if requested to do so by the seller or buyer (if he/she were a member).
Anything that has been on the forum should stay there I reckon.
It can and, in the past has been used by many as a research tool to compare items, accessories, prices and such. Just cos it's sold doesn't mean it doesn't exist any longer.
Unless it's offensive or derogatory there's no need for it to be canned. If it was, then one would hope that it would have been removed by the moderator or admin within the first 24 hours and a warning sent to the member about etiquette and standards.
Don't let the powers you have go to your head here Mr Mod.

am in agreement with cobba on this, as i quite often refer back to old ones as well.
But def need to work out whether some shown are still actually available and if not, this should be indicated as such.
And Benny, any woman you get have not got a hope of getting a word in edgeways anyway ! _________________ www.ratscafe.org

My reponse regarding deletion was a response to Churchy's response mentioning deletion. If something is sold then the need for it to remain after thirty days is non-existent, all it achieves if left is clutter _________________ Carl

Don't forget that MySQL usually has a limitation in regards to megabytes per size and can fall over if it starts getting close to the servers allocatted amount - perhaps deletion with any decent info placed in an FAQ type forum _________________ Carl
