From delegates list:

For those of you receiving renewals from GIO for your CTP you will notice a line item on it that says;
Pillion..No
The MCC has raised this with the Motor Accidents Authority (MAA) at Monday's regular meeting and their advice was to call GIO and get your renewal amended. They are now speaking to GIO to get the full story as GIO's comment that it is "Research for the MAA" is not quite true. Stay tuned for further updates

I dont have a GIO CTP But Mikey does and He never even noticed that it stated that till seeing your posting and checking his.

There gonna contact GIO to have it amended.

Wonder how many others have renewed and not seen the change and are still blisfully ignorant of this?

And what will happen if they do have an accident with a pillion on board?

Does it make the premium cheaper I wonder? I know there was talk or maybe some other states have single seat rego already

Will have to check mine as I am pretty sure it is with GIO as they are almost always the cheapest and have been for many years....

Those pesky Queenslanders have a 'No Pillion' - solo-seat Rego option.
Yes, cheaper rates as Pillions getting hurt obviously a stat in the compo/insurance world that was addressed.

Why not indeed - especially if you only have a solo seat fitted to your bike.

Just followed this up.
My Street Triple is with NRMA and no mention one way or the other about pillions, no problem as I have it set up for rider only.
My 1969 TR6 is with GIO, it was issued on 6th Feb 2012 and shows "Pillion passenger ... Yes".
So what is the go, are they saying no since my date or just picking some bikes or riders and saying no?

Mine is from GIO, Augusts last year and no mention of it in the list of options.

Kim has GIO and it says No on the pillion - the lady from GIO asked her the question directly when she was setting it up and she said no because of her license conditions

Maybe GIO has decided to start tracking it or thinking about offering a discount if no pillion in the future perhaps...some management boffin or accountant has come up with some idea and is testing the waters perhaps...

OK, I just used the greenslip guide for prices and put my detail in. Was not asked about pillion or solo riding. GIO were the cheapest but only last Aug NRMA were the best for my conditions.
They may be getting the cheap rate by excluding pillion cover, but the crook part is not advertising it. Only assuming so, haven't asked GIO but sure will at renew time.
