Spoke with Tex O'Grady yesterday. Here is article re his dog Bundy and the new laws on carrying him

http://www.musicswapshoppe.com/bundy-tex-ogrady-exemption-appeal.html

Anyway while he is fighting it. He asked me to keep an eye out for a Rocket 3, as he intends to fit a sidecar to carry Bundy in for the time being. So if anyone can help, please let me know.

Actually saw Tex today. He no longer has garage at Minchinbury, and like us all, has a lot of shit happening. But good news is that He has won an exemption. So Bundy can once again ride with him on bike.

I don't have a strong opinion therefore could change my mind but I think it's wrong to have a dog on a solo bike in any position be it front or back. If I was a cop I'd book him and sleep well at night knowing that I may have saved a dog from getting run over.

A mate of mine rode with his his dog on the tank from when the hound was a pup until he went blind - a long time. Got pics somewhere of a Sydney Toy Run in the early 80s and he's being interviewed by Channel 7 and the dog's on the tank with a thumpin' great woody - the Ch 7 lady was very pretty. Shit it was funny.

If I was a cop I'd sleep well knowing I'd seen a dog that was loved so much by it's owner that it went everywhere with him - regardless of mode of transport.

Pete, I see your point. I also had a work mate who had his dog ride on his BMW R90s tank for years and never had a problem. What makes me think twice is that I read on another forum (assume it's true) that this bloke has (accidentally) killed the previous dog in an accident. I'm not judging any one just being pro dog, I like dogs more than I like people. If the story is crap, I'm sorry, if it's true, I'd hate to see it happen again after all this bloke puts lots of miles up and that increases your chances of going down.

Previous dog Kev was cash and yes He was killed by a car, and also use to ride on bike. But was an accident with a car that did not happen whilst on bike.

I understand where your coming from. But to me a dog getting to go out every day with its owner be it back of ute or on a bike, has to be better than ones left with no attention in peoples back yards. And they often escape and get hit by cars as well.

Both dogs love/d riding on the tank. And both spent all day at his garage in minchinbury, as well as shows, getting heaps of attention.

I also knew someone who had this scruffy small mongrel that rode everywhere with him on an old jap bike in a milk crate. Apart from size was a clasic case of dog looking like owner lol

Yep, a lot of sense in your post. The truth is I'm still hurting from the loss of my big boy (cancer not accident) and I just want to protect them.

Tex told me that one time they had to go to Qld but for some reason couldnt't ride there and took the bike in the back of a van. Bundy sat on the tank the whole way.

There's a little book with cute pictures of mutts with quotes by famous people beside them. I got it for the missus while browsing the local book shop a couple of weeks ago. Grab a copy if you can. Anyway there's one quote that I think's appropriate here -

"Whoever said 'Money cannot buy happiness' never owned a puppy"

We lost our old dog back in '93. Hurt so much I swore I'd never get another. We've had Zappa now for over 18 months and he's the best thing that could have happened to me. I was silly, really silly for not letting another dog into my life for so long.

Go for it Kev.
