My answer is that it's to do with less vibration back to the lever if you have a small amount of warping in the disc. I've actually ridden bikes with the discs mounted up so loose that they rattle just riding along a rough road.
A very quick look found this written
"As a way of avoiding thermal stress, cracking and warping of the disc these are sometimes mounted in a half loose way to the hub with coarse splines. This allows the disc to expand in a controlled symmetrical way and with less unwanted heat transfer to the hub".

Does anyone know or can tell if these guys do custom brake set ups or just deal with brake parts? I'm looking at improving my brakes where I need both front & rear off the same lever, but also need an off set say 70/30 font-rear so the back end doesn't end up next to or in front of me. I currently run a master cylinder off a Datsun 1600 which looks CRAP and I'm not real confident in. _________________ DAZZAAR ( Darren )
